Hello Ball Hockey Families.
Referees are an essential part of our Vipers season, and all our games are officiated by a mix of senior and youth referees. Many of our youth referees are also Vipers players. For anyone interested in becoming a referee, now is the time!
All referees are certified by the BC Ball Hockey Association and attend a clinic annually to retain their certification. Registration is now open for the upcoming Victoria training session on April 6. Visit the BC Ball Hockey Association website to register in advance. And you also need to register as an official through our online RAMP registration system. The Victoria referee clinic is an in-person session from 1-7:30 pm on Saturday, April 6. It will be held at the Juan De Fuca 55+ Activity Centre - Room 101, 1767 Island Hwy.
Additional information about refereeing with our league is available on our website. While we are a volunteer-led organization, our referees receive a per-game stipend. And the league will reimburse youth referee certification clinic registration fees at the end of the season if they officiate at least three games. If you have questions, you are also welcome to contact our Referee in Chief by email at ric@gvmbha.com.
